This magazine was first published in 1963 to 1968 as "The Australian German Shepherd Dog Review". It
was reintroduced during 1974 in B5 sized format as "The German Shepherd
Dog Review" and was to take on the title of "The German Shepherd Dog
National Review" on its second publication in 1976. The issues
were numbered 1 to 20 and these ceased publication in October 1985.

The current title in A4 format, "German Shepherd Dog Quarterly National Review" was adopted in July 1986 and regular
publication of the magazine continues today. Referred to today as the "QNR", it is distributed to financial members of
the GSDCA four times per year coinciding with the seasons.
For non-members subscriptions to the magazine can be purchased (see subscription form below).
Advertising is offered in this magazine for private and
commercial advertisers. (see below).
For the collector, some past issues are still available,
although copies prior to 2002 are not available (see copies of some issues
in green border below the menu).

requirements for advertising in current issues of
the gsdca quarterly national review magazine
ADVERTISING GUIDELINES
All advertising in the
Quarterly National Review is available only to dogs and bitches which carry
a breed survey classification with the exception of animals under 18 months
of age.
As from 1st June 1998 when
advertising an animals hip and elbow result it must be advertised in only
the following manner :
1. Name of Dog ‘A’
acceptable (5/2) ‘Z’ Grade 1 (0/1)
2. Name of Dog ‘A’ ‘Z’
Imported dogs have a six
month period to be represented to a breed survey during which time any
classification gained in a GSDCA approved overseas breed survey scheme will
be recognised by the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia for
advertising purposes. After the six month period after release from
quarantine they may only be advertised if they have been represented through
the GSDCA Breed Survey Scheme.
PUBLICATION GUIDELINES
Obligations of Authors :
The obligation of an
author is to present a concise, accurate account of their subject matter.
Criticism of a published
article may be justified provided such criticism is constructive and based
on fact or opinion that is not borne from malice.
Personal criticism, political
comment related to the affairs of the GSDCA and/or members clubs, is not
considered acceptable under any circumstances.
Information obtained from
sources other than the author’s own work or published papers should not be
used or reported without the permission of the person or organisation from
which the information originated.
Obligations of the Editor :
The Editor should give
unbiased consideration to all articles offered for publication providing
that the content of the article meets with the objectives of the GSDCA and
does not contain personal criticism and/or political comment related to
the affairs of the GSDCA and its member clubs.
The Editor must not use the
“Editorial” to express personal criticism and/or political comment related
to the affairs of the GSDCA and/or member clubs, or comment adversely to a
decision as taken by the GSDCA.
The Editor must respect the
intellectual independence of authors.
The Editor when presented
with convincing evidence that the main substance or conclusions of an
article as published are erroneous should facilitate publication of an
appropriate article that highlights the errors and if possible correct the
original article.
The Editor has complete
responsibility and authority to accept an article for publication or
reject it.

commercial rates available upon request.
Note: all advertisers must forward FULL payment at the time of
placing the advertisement. Advertisers are
advised that where an animal is over 18 months of age it must have been
successfully Breed Surveyed. Any imported animals with an overseas
Breed Survey classification will be permitted to be advertised for 6
months following their date of release from Australian Quarantine.

The Revised and Updated Condensed History of the GSD in Australia,
(Golden Jubilee Edition) was published in celebration of the GSDCA's 50th
year and distributed to financial members and purchasers. It comes in two versions - a soft cover version and a
gold embossed hard cover version and is a limited edition print run. Limited copies
will be available for purchase.

History of the German Shepherd in Australia -
Golden Jubilee Edition
The Golden Jubilee Issue is a
comprehensive full colour 864 page history of the breed and history
of the GSDCA which contains thousands of photos, mostly in
colour. It covers a few reprints of early Australian
history from the 1990 edition as well as updating history to 2010.
It also outlines history of the inception of the GSDCA breed
improvement schemes, National Shows, Main Breed Shows, history of
the GSDCA and its serving members as well as history of the affiliate clubs. It also
covers the best producing sires and dams for the 40 odd year period
from the lifting of the import ban in 1972 as well as articles from
breeders.
This issue comes in two versions - a
hard covered leather bound, gold embossed edition with a slip case
and a soft cover version. A must have for the GSD enthusiast.

The Condensed History of the German Shepherd in Australia (1990 Edition) was
a "one-off" publication to record the history of the German Shepherd in
Australia as at 1990. It was a 296-page edition printed in black and
white. It is now out of print and unavailable in printed version.

The GSDCA publishes Yearly results for dogs that
have been
successfully breed surveyed each year. Each yearly publication also lists
dogs which have successfully passed the Hip Dysplasia and Elbow Dysplasia
Schemes and other survey related relevant information for breeders.
