GSDCA
YOUTH PROMOTION - CHILD SHOW HANDLERS CLASSES
The German Shepherd
Dog Council of Australia and all its affiliates are very keen to promote
participation of the young and next generations in the Breed, as we see this as
being fundamental to the development of the German Shepherd Dog in Australia
over future years. We welcome your feedback and support of these initiatives,
together with this webpage, for the benefit of those future generations and our
Breed.

Child Show Handlers at the GSD
National 2008 in Adelaide, South Australia :
Judge: Mr John Fenner
- WA
Thankyou to the GSDCA and GSDC of
SA for the opportunity to judge the handling abilities and potential of our next
and emerging generation of show handlers at the 2008 National. A special thanks
to these classes’ sponsors, Col and Shirley Ford of Takimbre Kennels, for their
enthusiasm and support of the concept. This and other groups of like children
around Australia may well become some of the Breed’s most important perpetuators
of its future.
The performances of each and every
participant was breath-taking and an absolute pleasure to judge, especially all
those in the Senior Classes. Time and show scheduling did not give me the
opportunity to give feedback to them individually at the event, but clearly many
of their adult supporters are providing very good guidance. The Seniors are
already capable of handling in an Open Class for GSD’s with true sportsmanship
anywhere in Australia, from what I have witnessed today.
