At the 2015 National Show & Trial, the following members were presented with awards, recognising their contribution to the German Shepherd dog

GSDCA Service Award

Mrs. Robyn KnuckeyIMG_0404

Robyn has been a member of the GSDA of WA since 1981 with involvement in many aspects of the club at a GSDA of WA, DogsWest & GSDCA level.

  • Secretary of the GSDA of WA from 1996 to 1997
    Club President from 2002 to 2005
    Robyn is a Specialist GSD Judge and a GSDCA Surveyor.
    She was presented with Life Membership of the GSDA of WA in 2009
    Has received her Bronze service pin for 5 years’ service, Silver service pin for 10 years’ service and Gold service pin for 15 years of service to the club.
    Robyn has held the position of Chair of the Show and State Breed Exhibition Sub-Committee.
    Show Chair on the GSDA of WA Management Committee.
    She has been a member of the DogsWest Governing Council and was the Group 5 co-ordinator for a number of years, a position she has once again taken on in2014.
    Robyn is very active in helping to teach/train the junior members in the art of show handling and she is the Show Mentor for the junior members.
    Robyn is active in the Breed Affairs Sub-Committee and the Judges Sub-Committee of the GSDA of WA and regularly attends the GSDCA National Shows and has been to the German & Italian Sieger shows on a number of occasions.
  • GSDCA
    Robyn held the position of GSDCA Judges Chair for 4 years from 2005 to 2009 and at the GSDCA AGM in 2014 she was elected to that role again.
    Robyn was also a breeder for a long time during her time with the club, and was a strong advocate for the GSDCA Breed Improvement Schemes.

Ian joined the GSDCV in 1982, and since 1987 has served continuously on various committees for the Club and the GSDCA

    Specialist Show Branch Manager for 3 years,
    GSDCV Show Manager for 11 years (which included the running of 3 Nationals and 2 Main Breed Exhibitions),

    GSDCV Vice President for a total of 6 years (assisting the last 3 Club Presidents),
    GSDCV Breed Affairs Administrator for 2 years.

Ian has received a 25 year Show Instructor Service Award, Outstanding Service Award in 2000, and was awarded Life Membership of GSDCV in 2004. He has retired from the Club Executive this year but is still actively involved with the Show Committee, and represents our breed on Dogs Victoria’s Canine Welfare Committee, as well as assisting when needed at interstate events, which included transporting and setting up a significant amount of equipment for the running of the Broken Hill Show.

Val joined the GSDCV in 1981 and has held numerous positions and served continuously on various committees for the Club, Branch and the GSDCA.

  • GSDCV Honorary Secretary 2001 – 2008 (7 years) plus, 2010 and 2012 for one year, totalling 9 years and is currently holding that position, (assisting 5 President’ during her tenure.

    Producer of the inaugural GSDCA Annual Report since 2008
    Distribution Manager for the GSDCA Quarterly National Review (2 years).
    2010 saw the 50th Anniversary of the GSDCA for which Val designed the “50th Anniversary logo”.
  • Awards that have been bestowed to Val over the years by the GSDCV have been:
    Branch Person of the Year from the Western Branch,
    20 Year GSDCV Service Award as a Show Instructor,
    25 Year GSDCV Service Award as a Show Instructor,
    GSDCV Outstanding Service Award 1994
    GSDCV prestigious award of Life Member in 2000.

Under the “Shaleedy” prefix Val has been presented with the GSDCA Bronze and Silver Medal for Hip X-Rayed animals, and the GSDCA Bronze and Silver medal for Elbow X-Rayed animals bred within her kennel.

  Service to Council – GSDCA Database

  • GSDCA Dog Database
    2007 – Tenders called for the GSDCA Database development.
    Daryl Bourke was successful in the tender process.
    2008 – commenced loading historic ANKC registration data, from 1972 onwards.
    This information is updated quarterly.
    2009 – commenced entering Tattoo data (starting from 2006 onwards) – by the State Tattoo Registrars.
    Early 2012 – HD/ED Certificates were generated from our database.
    This involved transfer of HD/ED data from the DataEase system. Thank you to Doug West who provided valuable assistance in resolving a number of problems encountered.
    Late 2013 – Breed Survey Certificates were generated from our database.
    This section proved to be quite complex. Thank you to Joylene Neddermeyer who also provided valuable assistance in the development of this section.
    Late 2014 – added the GSDCA Haemophilia data. Thanks to Karen Hedberg.
    All of these sections all inter-relate and earlier data is checked and verified as the dogs progress through the GSDCA Breed Improvement Schemes.IMG_0339January this year (2015) – made available to the members of the GSDCA Member Clubs.

  • Commenced tattooing for the GSDCV in 1982
    GSDCV State Tattoo Registrar from 1982 to 2004 – (22 years)
    GSDCA National Tattoo Registrar from 2003 to 2015 – (12 years)
    Continuing as a Tattoo Officer for the GSDCV to date totalling (33 years)
